Op 1 juni zijn de winnaars van de jaarlijkse Awards van de Amerikaanse Jazz Journalists Association (JJA) bekendgemaakt. Het is dit jaar de 31ste keer dat de – meest Amerikaanse - jazzcritici hun favorieten kozen. Pianist Kenny Barron kreeg de ‘Lifetime Achievement Award in Jazz’. Tot ‘Musician of the Year’ werd bassist Christian Mc Bride gekozen. En saxofoniste Nicole Glover werd tot ‘Up & Coming Musician of the Year’ uitgeroepen.
